Infrarouge
Based in Montreal, the Infrarouge company was founded in October 2001. By joining forces with artists of diverse disciplines and origins in our explorations of the multi-media art of theatre, we continue to develop our own unique language in terms of mise-en-scène, writing and acting. Our numerous stays abroad have enabled us to expand our contact and collaborative projects with artists from here and around the world, turning to good account the wealth generated by the collision of artistic cultures, generations and disciplines.
To date, we have created and produced five shows: Jimmy, The Darkness, Peepshow, The Glass Eye and The Invisible. Each production, except for The Glass Eye, is performed in either English or French, depending on the language spoken in the cities where we perform. Soon we will begin the creative process for a new production, Me, talking to myself in the future, which will premiere in Vancouver in 2010. The company’s Board of Directors consists of the following members: - Michel Bernatchez, Administrator and Producer of the Ex Machina company - Marie Brassard, Actress, Writer, Stage Director - Simon Guilbault, Set Designer Other essential members of the team: - Menno Plukker, Tour Manager and Managing Director of the company - Céline Lessard, Administrative Director.
Infrarouge
Basée à Montréal, la compagnie Infrarouge a été fondée en octobre 2001.
En nous associant à des artistes de disciplines et d’origines diverses pour explorer l’art multi média qu’est le théâtre, nous continuons à développer un langage singulier tant au niveau de la mise en scène que de l’écriture et du jeu. Nos nombreux séjours à l’étranger nous ont permis de multiplier les rencontres et les projets de collaborations entre artistes d’ailleurs et d’ici, mettant à profit la richesse générée par la collision des cultures, des générations et des disciplines artistiques.
À ce jour, nous avons réalisé et produit cinq spectacles:
Jimmy, créature de rêve, La Noirceur, Peepshow, L’Invisible
et
The Glass Eye.
Chaque production, mise à part
The Glass Eye,
est présentée en version française ou anglaise, selon la langue parlée dans les villes ou nous nous produisons.
Nous débuterons bientôt la création d’un nouveau spectacle,
Me, talking to myself in the future,
qui sera présenté pour la première fois à Vancouver en 2010.
Le conseil d’administration de la compagnie est composé des membres suivants :

La compagnie Infrarouge a été fondée à Montréal en octobre 2001, peu après la création du premier spectacle solo de Marie Brassard,
Jimmy, créature de rêve.
Créé dans le cadre du Festival de Théâtre des Amériques,
Jimmy
a connu un succès fulgurant et il a été depuis présenté à 180 reprises dans 42 villes réparties dans dix-neuf pays d’Europe et d’Amérique, et aussi en Australie, dans des endroits aussi prestigieux que le Théâtre de l‘Odéon à Paris, le Barbican à Londres et l’Opéra de Sydney en Australie. En mai 2003, Alexander MacSween, compositeur, Guy Trifiro, acteur, le scénographe Simon Guilbault, l’éclairagiste Eric Fauque, tous de Montréal, et Cécile Babiole, artiste multimédia et vidéaste parisienne se sont joints à nous. Nous avons créé
La Noirceur,
à nouveau au Festival de Théâtre des Amériques. Le spectacle a été présenté à Berlin et Ottawa et a été repris à Montréal avant de prendre l’affiche à Vancouver, à Vienne, à Göteborg et à Stockholm en Suède. À Toronto, en mai 2005, nous avons créé dans sa version anglaise notre nouveau spectacle, intitulé
Peepshow
, élaboré en résidence à l’Usine C. C’est alors que Daniel Canty s’est joint à l’équipe à titre de dramaturge invité. La pièce fut créée par la suite dans sa version française à Montréal au mois de juin dans le cadre du Festival de Théâtre des Amériques. Elle a été depuis reprise dans plusieurs villes du Canada, en Autriche, en Belgique, en Allemagne, en France, en Suède, en Italie et en Australie. À l’automne, 2007, nous avons créé un spectacle inspiré d’une pièce écrite par l’acteur Louis Negin,
Polo’s Fantasy
. Intitulée
The Glass Eye
, la pièce, coproduite par l’Usine C de Montréal et le festival Luminato de Toronto a été présentée à l’Usine C à Montréal en octobre 2007 et à Toronto en juin 2008. Notre dernier spectacle intitulé
L’invisible
a été créé à Montréal au mois de juin 2008 et a été présenté à Genève en Septembre. Nous sommes présentement à développer un nouveau spectacle intitulé provisoirement
Me talking to myself in the future,
qui sera créé dans la ville de Vancouver en 2010. Tous les spectacles sont toujours en tournée, principalement au Canada, en Europe, en Australie et en Amérique. Ils sont tous, à l’exception de

The company Infrarouge was founded in Montreal in October 2001 shortly after the creation of Marie Brassard's first solo show,
Jimmy.
Created within the framework of the Festival de Théâtre des Amériques, Jimmy was a resounding success and has since been performed 180 times in 42 cities in 19 countries across Europe, America and Australia, in as prestigious places as the Théâtre de l'Odéon in Paris, the Barbican in London and the Sydney Opera House, Australia.
In May 2003, composer Alexander MacSween, actor Guy Trifiro, stage designer Simon Guilbault, lighting designer Eric Fauque - all from Montreal - and Parisian multimedia artist and video director Cécile Babiole joined us. Together, we created
The Darkness,
again in the context of the Festival de Théâtre des Amériques. The piece was first performed in Berlin and Ottawa and returned to Montreal before taking the stage in Vancouver, Vienna, Gothenburg and Stockholm, Sweden.
In Toronto, in May 2005, we debuted an English version of our new work Peepshow within the framework of a creative residence at Usine C. It was then that Daniel Canty joined us in the role of guest dramaturg. The the French version of the piece was then presented at Montreal's Festival de Théâtre des Amériques in June. Since then, it has been performed in several cities in Canada, Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, Sweden, Italy and Australia.
In fall 2007, we created a work inspired by
Polo's Fantasy,
a play written by actor Louis Negin. Entitled
The Glass Eye,
the play, co-produced by Montreal's Usine C and Toronto's Luminato festival, was performed at Usine C in Montreal in October 2007 and in Toronto in June 2008.
Our most recent production
The Invisible
debuted in Montreal in June 2008 and was subsequently performed in Geneva in September.
We are presently in the process of creating a new piece under the working title of
Me talking to myself in the future,
which will debut in Vancouver in 2010.
All of the works are constantly touring, mainly in Canada, Europe, Australia and America. With the exception of
The Glass Eye,
all of the pieces are performed in both French or English.
Over the years, several co-producers have provided their invaluable assistance and support. They include Montreal's Festival de Théâtre des Amériques, renamed Festival Transamériques in 2007, Vienna's Wiener Festwochen, Berlin's Spielzeiteuropa/Berliner Festspiele, Sweden's Göteborg Dance and Theatre Festival, Ottawa's Théâtre Français du CNA, Toronto's Harbourfront Centre, Geneva's Festival La Bâtie, Vancouver's PuSh Festival, the festival BORDERLINE - CCT Le Manège scène nationale (Maubeuge) and the festival VIA in France.
